Wes O. Zimmermann, MD, PhD

LTC Wes O. Zimmermann (1964) MD, PhD, FECSM, is a primary care sports medicine physician working for the Royal Netherlands Army in the city of Utrecht in The Netherlands. He earned an undergraduate degree in general arts and sciences from the University of Nebraska, USA. His medical degree is from the University of Leiden, The Netherlands. His sports medicine degree is from the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands. His occupational medicine degree is from the University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
He has been with the Royal Netherlands Army since 2000. He has a particular interest in the treatment of overuse injuries of the lower extremity in young service members. He is a fellow of the European College of Sports Medicine and holds an appointment as Adjunct Professor in emergency and military medicine with the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, USA.
He is a former international springboard diver and has a special interest in the medical aspects of Olympic springboard and platform diving. He was a member of the World Aquatics doping control review board 2017-2022 and is a current member of the European Aquatics medical committee and World Aquatics High Diving Technical Committee.
